Stephen Redhead was was born to a 42 year old woman from Jamaica in Capitol Heights, MD. However, he was unable to speak until he was almost two years old. The doctors ran several evaluation tests and discovered no signs of brain damage. However, they later found that Redhead had an above average level of intelligence, which allowed him to spell several advanced words at a young age. Coincidentally, it allowed him to skip the second grade. However, due to the public school system of his hometown, he was placed into special education courses at four different elementary schools because of the unorthodox way that he adapted to his surroundings. Ironically enough, one would be hard pressed to tell Stephen Redhead to shut up about anything now!

He has performed in several outlets in local markets as well as in New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island. He has also appeared on local and national television networks such as BET, CBS, MTV, and MTV2. The sounds of his uniquely distinctive flow and vocal tone has been heard in areas from DC to Nebraska to Texas to Germany and beyond. As a performer, he has been able to shared the stage with the likes of Capone-N-Noreaga, Masta Ace, Wordsworth, Bomani, Ghostface Killah, and R&B singer Tiffany Evans. On January 26th, 2007, Redhead made history from being the first unsigned American hiphop artist to get his record (“I Like”) radio play in Australia during its national holiday. Currently, he’s managed by Andre Neal, former head of A&R at Violator under Eight Park Management and works with a variety of producers such as Howard “Versityle” Toliver of Songbook Entertainment, the production team that houses R&B artist Trey Songz.

Look out for this emcee in the near future as he continues his road to success.

Now, this incredibly humble young man was one of the 1st DMV Artists that caught my attention. His music is so refreshing and different from your typical lyricist. I love the “I Like” song… it was on HEAVY rotation for me last night… I meant to preview it ASAP but its better late than never right?? Besides, there’s NO WAY that I could hear something from my area and NOT showcase it. Did I mention this young man has been featured on SOHH, HipHopDX AND BET’s “Campus Invasion Tour” & “Rock The Vote 2004″?

You can’t hate on someone who does BIG things in a positive light. So SPOTLIGHT on you RedHead. Keep it Humble!
