Things Done Right
- Queen Latifah and MC Lyte did a great job. I was engaged and actually laughing this year. Tigger, I see you stylin’.
- Kanye, TI and Eminem‘s performances. I felt like I was watching a concert. Nuff said…
- LOVE the throwback Love Jones performance… It was sooooo good seeing Nia and Larenz on the same stage again. So wonderful. As well as the mini-skits they threw in between the honoring and performances. I was entertained. Were You?
- Alicia’s performance was wonderful for her to be with child and all. Half of these women can barely walk with child – let alone wear heels and SANG… (Don’t act like you did NOT see that belly peeking out LOL) You cant deny her talent. Thats what I can say.

- Dirty Money – I mean Diddy’s Dirty Money – this performance was HOT. Literally. And DOPE. But what did Nicki look uncomfortable… was it the heat? or the catsuit? #thingsthatmakeyougohmmm… Is it me or was it feeling more like a Diddy AND Dirty Money set?
If that performance was not reminiscent of “All about the Benjamins” I dont know what was. Moving on….
- Drake with that hyper performance. I was shocked that Drake was SO hyper and Nicki performed so… uh… “normal“. #DrakesRightArm almost flew off didn’t it? I was worried it would be laying next to #DrakesKnee.
- El DeBarge STILL HAS IT ! He still knows how to ROCK THE CROWD… Hand-dancing, grooving, and singing LIVE. If you dont know who he is – this is the ONLY TIME – you will hear me say this “Google Him“.
- John Legend being honored for his Humanitarian efforts worldwide. He deserves it. He’s earned it.
The Tributes
- Chris Brown‘s Michael Jackson Performance. I was speechless and damn near crying watching it. That was amazing. #LetChrisBeGreatDammit
- Tyrese with his sexy smooth chocolate self… That Teddy P. tribute was amazing. He sang his heart OUT.
- Patti singing ‘Purple Rain’ & Alicia performing ‘Adore’… superb. NO Complaints.
- Janelle Monae almost made me forget where I was – I started partying with her instantly. #TeamAndroid.

Things that should NOT have surprised you
- Nicki Minaj’s hair… you shouldve KNOWN she was gonna style on yall with those wigs… *side eye*
- Drake winning Best Male Artist. #YoungMoney
I guess the single really does win the awards these days.
Side Note: Does Drake read EVERYTHING off that blackberry? Well, alright.
- Alicia’s Baby Bump or her Lovely Lady Lump – whatever celebs call it these days.
- Trey’s Mom being FIERCE! Yes. I read the tweets before yall knew it was his momma… Ya’ll should be ashamed! LOL His mom is gorgeous. That was sweet.
- Chris Brown being emotional. A year ago they wrote him and all his hard work off. They wouldn’t even let him pay respect to his musical idol Michael Jackson. Some say it was ‘promo’ – I think it was pure and genuine emotion. He got his chance and he did it justice. #QuitHatin
- Haiti / Rest In Peace Tributes DONE RIGHT. I guess BET saw all of those tweets and got it together this year.
- John Legend being rewarded as ‘Humanitarian of the Year‘. For those people who were wondering where he was – he was helping people who need it. He was following the matters that he BELIEVES in. Thats where he was. I was NOT surprised. I was OVERJOYED. If you were surprised – you need to keep up. It’s about TIME someone recognized his efforts.
- Prince, Patti and Chaka STILL look good after all these years! Who was surprised? I sure wasn’t. Timeless beauty is just that – Timeless.
WTF Moments
- The whole Red Carpet showcase. Was that a talent show or what?
- Some of these ‘outfits’ y’all faves was wearing. Whoo chile… We gonna leave THOSE alone. Yes, even Monica’s wings – I mean shoulder pads were NOT cutting it for me.
- Nicki’s Wig. Sorry I wasnt “surprised” but I damn sure was LOST. #dontfakelikeyouwasnt
- BET’s choice of commercials. McDonald’s happy meals at a WEDDING? Yea the eff right… #comeonson.
- Drakes Fro in that baby picture was MASSIVE. As well as, Monica’s shoulder pads – or wings – or whatever that was on her shoulders.
- Keyshia’s ad-libs on “Airplanes’ with B.O.B… I guess she was having a moment and forgot that wasn’t HER song. #imjustsayin
- Diddy comin out to his Waka Flocka freestyle… “f**kin wit them white folks“? Really Diddy?? … o_0
- will.I.Am. — was that an advertisment for your beats?? When you are supposed to be announcing a winner…? #SITDOWN
- ANYONE who thought El DeBarge was Prince. Yea – I saw ya’ll on twitter loud and wrong. Damn shame.
- The arrangement of performances. Panties in the air and then a gospel tribute to Haiti. Get sexy and get saved? *lost*
- No Beyonce, Jay-Z and Gaga… what does that really say? Gaga not being there is one thing. But No JayBey?
- Rocsi and Terrence. Please. Stop. And did Rocsi REALLY have to wipe her face as if Terrence disgusted her? No further comment. Okay maybe one: #BishPLEASE
- Why in the world was Nicki Minaj LIPSYNCING ? The two chances she got to win me with a live showcase of her skill. One of them included her performing like she was tired. The other one – well lets just say DJ Khaled had more energy. Thats scary. Not saying I am not a fan of hers. But, she has more energy and charisma in her videos. #imjustsayin... I was expecting her to KILL it. Now, I’m scared for her album.
- Officer Ricky – I mean Rick Ross… PLEASE BURN THOSE SMALL SHIRTS. Please and Thank you.
Overall : A -
One of the BEST award shows ever in BET’s history. With minor issues here and there, you have to give credit where credit’s due. Great performances, great hosting and commentary… overall greatness. BET, you did phenomenal.
