Wanna Be Featured?

Since we receive several artist submissions every month, we have devised this set of guidelines to make the process smoother and give everyone a chance to shine. Adherence to these guidelines gives artists a greater chance of getting featured.

Here is a short checklist of items you will need to provide:

  • A biography (at least 4 paragraphs) detailing your background and accomplishments to date
  • At least one (1) HIGH QUALITY image of yourself in BMP, JPG/JPEG or PNG format
  • A link to at least one (1) downloadable MP3 audio file
  • URLs to your social networking accounts (Myspace, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) and/or any appropriate and relevant videos
  • Anything else that you think is noteworthy
Once you have completed this checklist, check it and double check it. Some people assume that they have achieved a distinct level of notoriety and instead of completing the requirements, they respond with “Google me!” This absurdity will NOT be tolerated and WE WILL NOT FEATURE ANYONE WHO REFUSES TO SUPPLY US WITH THE BARE MINIMUM.

What is a High Quality image?

A high quality image is essentially a professionally taken photograph, or a very well captured amateur photograph. Only the Artist of feature can be in the photograph. No grainy or blurry images will be accepted. Only the artist (or group members) should be in the photo; no “me and my homie” photos will be accepted. The image dimensions should be at least 800×600 pixels in width and height respectively. There can not be any watermarks or previously made photoshop edits to the image.

Promotion

Our intention is to increase the visibility of any artist we feature on DMVixen.com, but it must be a collaborative effort. On our end, along with the articles posted on the website, we regularly update the DMVixen.com Jukebox with music as we receive it, and post each article’s URL on Twitter.com. We expect that artists will post the link to their feature across their various social networking pages to reach a wider audience. If you’re on twitter, retweet your feature at least once a day. If you’re on facebook, share the link to your post or update your status with the link (or both). Blog the feature on MySpace. Our audience is growing exponentially, but every time an artist spreads the word, they have a greater chance of creating a larger fanbase – which is mutually beneficial – so you must be willing to do your part!

When Will I Be Featured?

OK so you have followed the submission guidelines and sent all the requested information. After we have reviewed all of your materials, we still have to decide whether you get the Featured Artist spot, or an Artist in Focus spot. The fact of the matter is: everyone wants to be a feature, but not everyone will make the cut. If you do, however, we will queue you to be featured. An artist will keep the feature spot on DMVixen.com for 30 days, then a new featured artist will be selected.
