Rants | I Don’t Know How I Feel About The Whole…

…Maybach O thing.

Not that Omarion isn’t talented. Don’t start with that mess. When O was with B2K – I actually liked him – alot. He is a very VERY talented dude. I just have no idea how a guy like him would fit into the Maybach Music brand as a whole.

When he signed with Young Money – I palmed my forehead and figured there was NO way that would work out. I have always seen O as the “lead singer in B2K”. Something tells me that all of this is to stray as far away from that good R&B guy role he acquired.

I feel like all R&B men struggle with leaving their old images behind them. Ray J would rather been known as the guy who “got it in” with Kim K & “fought” Fab than just being “Brandy’s brother”. So, apparently, this is no new thing we are seeing.

But – the gold hair streak, gold chains, “Maybach O” thing Omarion is doing.. I don’t know how I feel about it. He is a great singer and a GREAT dancer – he makes one heck of an artist. Come on man, “Touch” was classic and “Ice Box” ? Come on son. Omarion has proven himself to be quite the performer. Don’t get me wrong – MMG is killing it right now. No matter how many times Rick Ross pushes his album back. No matter how many times we have to wait and wait for Meek Mills to drop his. Everything they do – is epic. Even the “Mmmmmmaybach Music” tag is genius. I am just curious to see the kind of music “Maybach O” will make working with MMG. I’m curious to see what else Omarion will turn into as an artist.

While he has done a great job separating himself from the B2K days – how long do you think he will last with MMG? Do you think he’s a great fit musically? Do you think this is another ploy to stay relevant?
