Vixen Rants: “Why Yall Trippin? – I’m Just Fine…”

Hey Everybody,

If you’ve been wondering where I have been - pop the top for more info.

Now, before we get all up in the details – lets do a quick rundown for anyone who was “tardy for the party”.

This is DMVixen.com (the url) : Its about anything and everything entertainment.  Especially if its in the DC, MD, and VA areas.  Due to the mass popularity of the site, we have broadened our love and showcase extraordinary talents from outside our DMV area as well.  Why is it called DMVixen dot com?

That leads to our next subject.

DMV = DC, MD and Virginia areas, which was our initial focus because our area is more than politics and presidents.

Vixen =  is who I am.

Who is Vixen?  An anonymous ass blogger who likes it that way.  I love what I do, I love my life and I love everything about me as a person.  But, this site is not about ME.  Its by me.  But, not ABOUT me.  Get it? The way I see it is, once this site starts becoming about me, my life, my issues, my blablablablabla then it will take away from the initial focus – YOU.  There is a method to my madness.  One day, someday, you will know who I am and when that day comes……. yea, we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.  When life becomes overwhelming — I call my sidekick to hold me down.

Who is that sidekick?

Tiki (aka @StrictlyTiki <–follow her.).  Yes, Tiki is my “partner -in- crime“.  She is the Webmaster who created this FABBBBBBBBulous site you are scrolling on.  I had the dream, she executed the vision.  When I cant do it all, she helps me out.  She sees where I am going with this “vision” and she helps me take care of it when I am “M.I.A.”.  Is Tiki the same as Vixen?  Hell no.  If you follow us on twitter you will see the CLEAR distinction.  Shes so calm and cool.  Me?  Yea, I will lean on your momma if she got out of hand.  See why we work so well together?  *cheese*

Now that we got THAT out of the way….

Let’s talk about where the hell I been:

Before you judge me, picture this. You see this crazy idea in your head.

You say to yourself  “lets showcase the UNDERGROUND.  Just me and my trusty sidekick.  Just the two of us! Yea!”

Then your inbox becomes OVER flooded.  What you didn’t realize is – there are TONS of talent underground.  Now what?  You can’t just ‘copy and paste’ everything and call it GOOD.  Noooooo, thats co-signing.  That’s not genuine.  You have to download and listen to EVERYTHING.  Honest Reviews.  Honest Interviews.  Feedback that the people can TRUST.  Well, shit your inbox ONLY has 500+ emails.

Did we mention you have a life offline too?

How do you balance it all?  Where do you start?  You can’t just let your dream go to waste.  People believe in you NOW.  They look forward to you helping in delivering their dreams, their message …their VISION.  People TRUST you now.  You cant just walk away……..

Besides, you love what you do.  More than you love your REAL job.  You LOVE what you are doing for the masses.  So, sure you lose some sleep.  You miss some quality moments with people.  You miss some moments to be “rolling with the homies”.  But, its worth it right?

Well.  No one knows YOU are doing that.  They know someone is doing it.  Just not quite who.  So, your REAL LIFE friends are like “Mannn… aint no way you THAT tired.” , “But – are you making money doing it?  If not, just walk away!”, “What about us?“, “You not BS’in us AGAIN.  Besides, what you doing that you can’t tell US about anyway?“.

*Blank Stare*  To them, you aint doin nada.  To you, you are carrying out a mission.  One you cant discuss, they wouldn’t understand.  Besides, bloggers don’t make any MONEY. Nowadays, if you aren’t getting PAID to do it- whats the purpose?  Besides – EVERYONE is a blogger, rapper, model, PR, DJ and entertainment personality nowadays.

Well, Vixen had a Kanye moment.
(yes, I did talk about myself in third person.)

I got angry.  I couldn’t balance it all and it became overwhelming.  I had moments where I got discouraged.  Life kicked in.  Bills got un-paid.  Shit happened.  I got tired dammit.  I got tired of defending MY vision to others who were just blind.  Those late nights got exhausting.  If I couldn’t blog, I didn’t even want to do the crap I was getting paid for.  My vision got blurry all around.  I fell out of love with what I loved the most.

It happens.  If you say that it’s never happened to you before – then you can’t relate.

Then I got it together.  I realized that even when I wanted to quit – Tiki wouldn’t let me.  The artists who trust me wouldn’t let me.  The PR who communicate with me -sometimes daily- wouldn’t let me.  The invites wouldn’t stop.  The music kept coming in.

I couldn’t stay away.  I won’t go away.  I love what I do.  I love each and every person who believes in our brand.  I say our brand because even though it was my idea, my vision and my dream.  It wouldn’t be possible without Tiki.  It may sound gay – but thats real.  She’s the business partner and friend that each person should have in their corner.  That person that NEVER stops pushing you.  In their own subtle way, they see where the car is headed and never goes off path.  If you don’t have a friend like that in your corner, go find one.   Not Tiki though, shes my friend dammit. (Just playing.)

To hell with the ones who don’t believe in me.  To the ones who think what Team Vixen does is “not important” -  Ya’ll never mattered to me anyway.  If you don’t like what Tiki and I stand for -  go make your OWN blogs.

To the ones who believe: We won’t let you down. End of story.  Nuff said.
