Housewives Drama: From Atlanta to Jersey to Beverly Hills

Anyone who knows me KNOWS I love “The Real Housewives…” franchise. However, the antics and diva-tudes – even the cast swaps – it’s all becoming a bit much.

First of all, as much as I love the Atlanta Housewives, I am saddened that Lisa won’t be on the upcoming season.  I mean, anyone who was paying attention last season probably saw this coming a mile away.

A lot of her scenes were rather “normal” and not very “drama filled”.  Compared to the other housewives, her life was rather normal.  I guess normal is NOT going to cut it with Bravo – because Lisa was asked to either “give ‘em a show” or “get lost”.

Bye Bye Lisa…. *wipes tears*

Well, with Lisa gone … here are the new cast members.

So in place of my former favorite housewife (who was actually a HOUSEWIFE…smh) they have added Cynthia Bailey and Phaedra Parks.  Interesting.  Let’s talk about these wonderful additions for a second here…

Summary of Cynthia via Bravo:

Glamorous Cynthia resides in Atlanta with her 10-year old daughter, Noelle. The Alabama-born beauty moved to New York City 18 years ago to pursue her dream of modeling with nothing more that a high school Homecoming Queen crown and a few beauty pageants under her belt. Her very first booking was the cover of Essence, but that was only the beginning. From major fashion features to the runways in Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks and from staring in a movie opposite Sandra Bernhardt to a guest role on The Cosby Show,Cynthia has had an enviable career path.

Cynthia joins the Housewives at a pivotal time in her relationship with her boyfriend of three years, Peter Thomas. He has issued her an ultimatum, and though Cynthia has always been independent and financially comfortable, she must come to terms with her marriage hang-ups or risk losing him for good. Already a close friend of NeNe’s, their friendship deepens as together they struggle through relationship issues with the men in their lives.

Now, my opinion on Ms. Bailey.  A. She is NOT a housewife; duh, she’s not even married.  B.  How long has she lived in Atlanta?  Yea, I don’t see anything about that either.   Last but not least, who is she again?  I haven’t heard of her before. Have you?  Then again, I didn’t know who Nene Leakes was prior to this show.

Moving right along…

Then, there is Phaedra Parks…

Phaedra is a celebrated entertainment attorney who lives in the historic Vinings area. She is the Managing Partner of The Parks Group, P.C., an Atlanta based boutique law firm that caters nationally to entertainers and athletes. She has served as a legal analyst for NBC and Fox News, and has been featured on Entertainment Tonight, EXTRA, Court TV, among others for her handling of several high-profile clients and cases. An active member of the community, Phaedra, self-proclaimed “Southern Bell,” sits on numerous boards and is involved is multiple charities.

A friend of Dwight and Kandi’s, Phaedra arrives on the Housewives scene under scrutiny. Phaedra’s marriage to her younger husband, Apollo, is the subject of much gossip because he did a stint in prison for a “white collar crime.” She is expecting her first child with Apollo and has thrown herself into planning the perfect baby shower.

Now, I HAVE heard of her.  While I won’t judge her on her romantic endeavors.  I CAN say, that she is MARRIED.  Which is always a plus – especially being that this is a show about HOUSEWIVES.  Not to mention, she is actually successful and well-known in Atlanta.  So… good pick here Bravo; someone who “fits the criteria” and might actually be “show worthy”.

I am looking forward to the next season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta“.  Even without my girl Lisa - I’ll be watching.  Will you?

Now on to my second favorite group – The Housewives of New Jersey.

I don’t know WHAT is going on with these ladies.  First, I hear about Teresa and her hubby blowing STACKS of money – and filing bankruptcy.  Next, I hear about Danielle getting kicked off of the show?  Or did she quit?  Which one is it?  I’m so confused…

There is sooooo much going on with this group of women that the drama is NON stop!  Word is – they want to get “Jersey Shore” money for their antics!  Go figure!

The way I see it?  The “Manzo” family (including Teresa as well…)  is not that exciting without Danielle and her antics.  That’s just my opinion anyway.  Without Danielle there to stir up the drama  - what would they really have that’s worth watching?  They all get along so very well without her.  There isn’t any family drama because Caroline won’t let that happen.

So again – I must ask – why would Bravo pay these housewives MORE than anyone else in the franchise?

How good can the next season be without the Queen of Drama (Danielle) and her goons?  LOL.  You gotta admit, love her or hate her – she was the HIGHLIGHT of this past season  (…and the reunion for that matter.)

**Rumor:  Teresa’s sister-in-law may be joining the next seasons cast.  Hmm….

Last but not least - Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

I’m going to be honest and say… I am not really excited about this season.  It reminds me of “Real Housewives of Orange County”. Botox, Booze and Breakups left to right.

The way I feel about this particular season?  The same way I feel about Real Housewives of DC.  They’re gonna have to EARN my hour.  So far?  I’m not excited.
