Reality Rants | Starter Wives Is Quite A Spicy Conversation Starter

Scene one – the first topic on the menu was sex. Whose getting some and whose not. Who is still sleeping with their ex and who has dedicated their goodies for a higher purpose. These women wasted NO time getting straight to the point. I’m here for it.  What I respect about these women is that they aren’t exactly throwing their men under the bus, they are just being honest.  Honest in terms of their side of their respective stories.  We will never really know “the truth” about it all.  But, somewhere in-between the exes sides, the mens sides and the court papers (C&D orders – anyone?) lies the ugly truth.

Let’s start with Zakia Baum – Maino‘s ex – she is hysterical right? As far as she is concerned, she is celibate. Then, we have Josie Harris (Floyd’s ex), whether he is still engaged or not – she is still “involved” with him. According to her – they will always be “humping in the back of a vehicle”. Gotta love her for her honesty right?  She is besties with Monica Joseph-Taylor, who happens to be the former silent partner and wife of radio personality/DJ Funkmaster Flex.  Monica is the mother of their two children and owner of the successful blog Dirty Little Secret.  She appears to be the center piece (or the “Shaunie”)  of the series.

Then, the buzz has been surrounding Starter Wife Liza Morales. Not only did she give her virginity to Lamar Odom, but she hasn’t experienced intimacy in FOUR years. YIKES. Talk about dedication and loyalty. She sent the internet into a frenzy when she spoke on how her ex left her shortly after their infant passed away. According to Liza, they had their shares of ups and downs during their relationship. She is the mother of his children Destiny (age 13) and Lamar Jr. (age 11). She says shortly after their third child Jayden passed away of SIDS (at seven months) – her and Lamar were no longer an item. To add insult to injury, she found out about Lamar & Khloe‘s engagement via text. Ouch. They say there is three sides to every story – his, hers and the truth. We have all seen/heard their side. Starter Wives is time for her to tell hers.

Things get interesting when Sheniqua Tompkins (50 Cent’s ex) tells what she can about her former relationship. Sources say she was “very deeply” involved with this series when he decided to grace them with a good ol’ cease and desist order. I don’t think anyone should’ve been surprised by that move. There was no way 50 Cent was going to take that risk with his fortune and such on the line. While it sucks that she can only say so much about their past relationship, it does make you wonder what she would say – if she could.

Now, take those starter wives and throw in DMX‘s former ride-or-die wife (and mother of his children) Tashera Simmons and ex-mob-wife Cheryl Caruso.  These two add a different spin on this show.   They are representing the women who are divorcing their famous husbands and starting over.   This is not as simple as it seems.

These women have children, businesses, heartaches, scandals and legal fees worth listening to.  In the first episode alone, these ladies let their guard down for the entire world to see.  I have a feeling that we will not only learn something about them (and their men) but we will find ourselves rooting for them to win.

Starter Wives has something for everyone and enough insight for the those outside of the circle to take a look within.  Everything that glitters is not gold.  This show is proof.
