BET Hip Hop Awards 2011 | It Was All About The Cyphers…

I’m not saying that I didn’t watch the rest of the show.  But – who are we kidding here?

This was the BEST one – in my opinion.  SLAUGHTERHOUSE killed it for me.  Were ya’ll LISTENING to this sh*t!?!?!  Sure you heard the metaphors and catchy stuff…but were you LISTENING!?  Em‘s a fool.. his sideline commentary was so comical.

Sidenote: “Hi Rihanna….”

This one was second on my list.  Wale showed out didn’t he?  I loved seeing him represent on this awards show.  Especially since people slept on him so ridiculously during his “Attention Deficit” days.  Rick Ross‘ silk pajamas had me dying – but he’s a #BAWSE so let that man be great.  Everyone carried their weight in this cypher though.

Chris Brown…. Kevin McCall…. Tyga… even Ace Hood.  This one wasn’t bad either.  I wasn’t surprised to see Chris spazz.  I think in his soul – he’s a rapper.  Hell, we all are.  Tyga‘s glasses though?

Busta killed it – as expected.  Luda showed he still got it.  2 Chainz and Reek Da Villain though?  Let’s just say I slept on them until I heard this.  Not bad.

K.R.I.T., Tech N9ne, Machine Gun Kelly, Kendrick Lamar and B.O.B held my attention during this cypher too. If you listen closely? They showcased some serious lyricism here. Good sh*t.

Machine Gun Kelly is niiiiice. Don’t judge me for just realizing that.

Skillz!!!!!!!!  Lady of Rage – I knew she was dope.  For real, she’s always been a lyrical monster with her afro puff.  Dom Kennedy was a pleasant surprise.  I’m not even gonna act like I knew that.

BLIND FURY THOUGH!!!!!!! >>>>>>>>>

That foreign language-french-flow shawty?  Soprano and Lecrae held it down.  I had no idea Estelle could hold anything lyrical in a cypher.  I really had a “Oh, she RAPS too?!?” moment.  Don’t judge me.

The lovely and beautiful Nitty Scott held it down during her round.  I gotta “google” her – don’t act like you knew her already.

Did yall catch Lecrae say “You living for whips and chains – you’re a SLAVE…” ?!  I damn near threw my remote ALL the way across the room when he said that.

…But if they were showcasing underground lyricists too – Why wasn’t L.A. there?  I mean.. Nevermind.
